There is currently a process of formal consultation regarding proposals to merge some Parishes in Gosport, so we can serve the people of the town better.
As part of this scheme, it is proposed that St John’s changes its legal status from a Parish Church to a “mission hub” working across the whole town. This means we would no longer be required by law to have a Sunday service and do weddings, Christenings and funerals – although we might well want to keep doing some or all of those things.
The proposals are now with the Church Commissioners for their final stage of consultation. You can read the official paperwork on the Church of England website here.
On the first Wednesday of every month, the Church is open from 7:00 until 9:00 pm for anyone to come in, light a candle, pray, reflect, drink coffee, chat or just be. Everyone is welcome – please do drop in!

Before anyone invented Google calendars or Facebook events, the Church had its own way of letting everyone know the dates of things: the Epiphany Proclamation.
